In Your Words

On or about March 1, 2005 I experienced a sudden infarction of the descending colon.  After emergency surgery performed by Dr. Whitby it was pretty much expected by the hospital staff that I would not live.

She did what I thought was impossible by performing this procedure without my having to wear a bag.  I will always love this doctor for saving my life.

Please pass on my constant gratitude to Dr. Whitby for what she has done for me.

A year ago today I was on your operating table while you performed a fundoplication and fixed a hiatal hernia. The results have been life-changing. Most importantly, the dysplasia has so far disappeared, but I also can sleep lying down instead of sitting up, and not fear being awakened violently coughing to try and clear acid from vocal cords or lungs. Most interesting, as you said would happen, is swallowing, feeling food or drink slide slowly down my throat instead of free-falling from mouth to stomach.

You have an awesome talent. Thank you for helping me. I truly appreciate it.
